About Neil
Joining us in March 2011 as Chief Risk Officer for GE Capital UK, Neil leads our risk organisation and is member of the UK Board and executive team. He has overall responsibility for the strategic leadership and direction of the enterprise risk management framework, covering the full complement of risk elements - including credit risk, operational risk and financial risk.
Neil has over 27 years of banking experience. Prior to joining GE, he undertook a wide range of roles, predominantly in the retail and SME banking sectors, with the Royal Bank of Scotland/NatWest.
Specialising in risk for the last seven years, Neil has held positions such as Head of Operational Risk as well as executive roles responsible for enterprise risk and retail credit risk. In 2009, he was appointed Chief Risk Officer for the UK Retail business division with responsibility for consumer credit risk, operational risk, regulatory risk, financial crime and external risk. Additional roles undertaken include positions in the Banking front line, such as Branch Manager and Area/Regional Manager, as well as head office roles in which he was responsible for information management and insight, and for operations in 2,200 branches across the UK.
Throughout his career, Neil has continued to develop his business acumen, capability and leadership skills. In addition to earning professional business qualifications, he has undertaken a wide range of executive development programs delivered by Harvard, Wharton and Duke. He holds the additional distinction of having been made the youngest Chairman and President of the Watford & West Herts Chamber of Commerce.
Neil is married with two teenage daughters. He likes to spend his personal time listening to music, visiting the gym, and seeking out and using the latest “must have” gadgets!
